New Procedure for Safeguarding Children and Young People in Croydon

June 22nd, 2018

In Croydon, the new Single Point of Contact for Early Help and Children’s Social Care is now up and running. This is intended to provide a more joined up and supportive response for professionals with safeguarding concerns at any stage. The below flyer provides updated contact information, with an overview of what’s changed and what hasn’t.

The much-anticipated, revised version of Keeping Children Safe in Education  can now be viewed on the DfE website. Released ‘for information only’ at this stage, it comes into force on 3 September 2018. Most of what was in the previous version remains but there are some important additions and clarifications. These include:

  • A stronger emphasis on the safeguarding needs of children with SEN and Disabilities
  • Sexual violence and sexual harassment guidance now included as a new Part 5
  • Some additional guidance on vetting and checking, staff induction and school safeguarding policies
  • Four new safeguarding topics for all staff in Annex A.

A table of all substantive changes listed in Annex H of the new document.

All local and national safeguarding updates are shared at our Safeguarding Forums, the next of which is 6 Nov 2018.
