24 Feb 2020 09:30 – 16:00
Aligned with the 2019 Ofsted framework.Facilitated by the Nell Seal from the Geographical Association
This day aims to equip Primary Geography subject leads with skills and knowledge that will support them to fulfil their role at school more confidently. We will share perspectives on our vision for quality geography and consider a range of elements that may impact curriculum making in the subject. The day will include an opportunity to examine documents that set out what it means to get better at geography. There will also be a session which breaks down the possible functions of a subject lead and we will offer resources to support these. Throughout the day we will share a few high-quality geographical activities that you can hopefully adapt for inclusion in your own setting.
This course explores how to stimulate geographical learning that is relevant, authentic and progressive and engages pupils in their own learning. The course coversthe essential knowledge and skills, action planning and assessment required for primary teachers to deliver the new curriculum requirements for geography.
