Governors are increasingly becoming involved in the investigation of parental complaints as well as being required to sit, on occasion, on formal Governing Board panels to consider parental complaints. Thus it is essential that Governors understand the role that they play in their school’s formal complaints process.
Best practice recommends that at least one of the panel participants has attended up to date training in order to ensure both an efficient panel process and that Governors are able to make an effective, strategic contribution to the panel’s decision making.
This course is non-chargeable for those schools with an annual Octavo Governance training contract.
This development sessions is relevant for both Governors who have had no previous experience of sitting on Governor Panels and for those governors wishing to update and refresh their existing knowledge.
The material covered in this session will assist governors’ development in relation to Key Competency 1 (Strategic Leadership) and Key Competency 5 (Compliance) within the Governance Competency Framework.
