As part of the collective Governing Board’s statutory safeguarding duties, all Governors of maintained and academy schools should have an understanding of the PREVENT Duty.
This course is non-chargeable for those schools that have an annual training contract with Octavo Governance.
Facilitated by a Prevent Duty trained specialist working within Croydon Council, this training session considers the duty under the Counter-Terrorism and Security Act 2015, which falls upon the management teams within schools, including Governors, to prevent children and young people from being drawn into terrorism.
The material covered in this session will assist Governors’ development in relation to Key Competency 2 (Accountability) and 5 (Compliance) within the Governor Competency Framework.
