Due to business expansion, Octavo Clerking Service are seeking Clerking Service Clerks to work supporting school governing boards, in maintained schools, single academy schools, and across Multi Academy Trusts.
At present this role is paid on a casual hours contract. Whilst the working hours are variable, there will be the opportunity to agree a number of meetings during the year if attached as named clerk to a school, with the potential to take on additional meetings, as your time permits.
As a clerk in our service, you will provide sound governance advice and solid admin support including minute taking, agenda setting and record keeping. Our clerks liaise directly with schools to organise meetings and set agendas therefore good communication (both written and verbal) and time management skills are required, plus the ability to develop positive and pro-active relationships with key people.
You will be supported by Octavo with expert governance advice, but as you will work for periods without direct supervision, it is desirable that you will either have some previous knowledge of school governance and the education system or be willing to learn and develop this. We provide a full Clerk induction and thereafter regular paid attendance at training will be expected, where you will be able to network with fellow clerks.
This role is not office based and will require attendance at different schools in the local and neighbouring areas, therefore you should be able to travel reliably and arrive in good time for meetings. Flexibility in terms of working hours will be required as whilst the majority of meetings take place in the late afternoon/early evening, there are also meetings within the school day.
The role includes typing up minutes and producing agendas, amongst other documents, therefore use of a private laptop will be required, and the ability to work with packages such as Ms Office 365 to a good standard.
The hourly pay is £15.85 – £17.75 per hour and includes the statutory entitlement to holiday allowance. The role is paid on the GLPC Pay Scales Grade 7, Scale Point 23.
The vacancy will close at 9am on Wednesday 11th March 2020. We may close the vacancy before this date if sufficient applicants apply.
Interviews will be held on the 16th and 17th of March 2020, beginning at either 10am, 1pm or 3pm. Additional dates may be offered.
