Overview

Have your staff identified an issue around the level of independence and resilience of children in their class or year group? ‘Are you aware of new research and approaches like John Hattie’s ‘Visible Learning for teachers’ or Jim Smith’s ‘Lazy Teacher’ philosophy but struggle to know what this means ‘on the ground’. Do you want to know more - then join this six session interactive course?

Description

Throughout the year participants will experience new ways of teaching which they actively try out in the sessions themselves and then use in their classrooms between sessions. The course will create an on-line forum supporting participants to form their own learning community. For maximum impact we ask schools to send two teachers per school.

The course programme will run over 6 sessions, concluded with a review meeting. The sessions will cover the following:

Session 1: Unlocking Learning through collaboration
Session 2: New approaches to talk partners - Breaking down barriers
Session 3: New appraoches to groupwork - Introduction
Session 4: Groupwork advanced
Session 5: Metacognition
Session 6: Peer support
