Overview

The project will include:
•Each school identifying two teachers to lead developments within their school
•The two teachers working together with the Octavo mathematics consultant and teachers from the other project schools in half-termly meetings
•Each school receiving a termly support visit from the Octavo Mathematics Consultant to observe teaching, support in-school teaching research work, and work with the lead teachers and head teacher
•The head teacher working with an Octavo Adviser and other project school head teachers to develop whole school policies and structures to support teaching for mastery
•The lead teachers, supported by the head teacher, working with colleagues to develop teaching for mastery approaches in the classroom, supported by professional development activity provided by the Octavo Mathematics Consultant during the half-termly meetings

Description

Expectations of participating schools
Schools taking part in the CMTM Project commit to the following expectations:
•The lead teachers will participate in the half-termly, cross-school meetings (half-days) with the Octavo Mathematics Consultant
•The school will agree to host at least one cross- school meeting
•The lead teachers will receive a minimum of 10 (combined) days release time for development work including the above meetings
•The head teacher will meet with the Octavo Mathematics Consultant as well as working with the other CMTM Project school head teachers in a session led by an Octavo adviser
•The school will establish professional development models to allow the lead teachers to support teacher development across the school
