Positive Approaches to Challenging Behaviour | Octavo Partnership

Course Date

24 Apr 2018 09:30 - 16:00

Overview

Octavo have commissioned PRICE Training to deliver a bespoke one day course to support local schools to manage very challenging behaviour. By offering this training locally, the intention is to encourage local schools to adopt an approved, effective and proven approach to manage situations where children’s behaviour puts themselves or others at harm.

Description

Participants will acquire a comprehensive set of skills for supporting a very broad range of behaviour, from low level disruption through to situations where children’s behaviour is potentially dangerous. Participants will gain an understanding of what steps can be taken to reduce the likelihood of such behaviours occurring in the first instance, and learn a range of strategies known to be effective in de-escalating and defusing challenging behaviours when they do occur.

The course will also skill staff in a range of breakaway techniques to keep staff safe and some restrictive physical intervention techniques which will enable staff to keep the child, their peers and staff members safe. PRICE training are a well-established and recognised provider of this training and are BILD accredited. On completion of the course participants are registered with BILD and are required to attend a refresher course once a year. This model will allow staff to access regular advice and refresher of the training techniques.

Before the training participants will complete a pre-training audit questionnaire to ensure that the training is bespoke to the needs of the schools attending. This training is limited to 15 per session. Schools can choose from buying places on the dates below or can request bespoke training days to align with school INSET days. Schools will need to send a minimum of 3 members of staff to this training – to ensure that they are able to implement the approach back at school.
