Primary Science Training Day - Summer 2018 | Octavo Partnership

Course Date

05 Jun 2018 09:30 - 15:30

Overview

This day will enable teachers to experience learning science outside. The majority of the day will spent outdoors; studying ponds, meadows, log piles, etc. – learning more about the plants and animals, but also how to ensure quality learning of the outdoor aspects of the science programme of study.

Description

This session will allow teachers to experience how to develop children’s learning in an outdoor environment. The Centre has been specially developed over a period of time to assist primary school children with learning about plants and animals. Particular resources have also been developed to assist the children with learning outside. Teachers will spend time in the different habitats in order that they can learn more about the organisms that live there, as well as how to use these environments to further develop children’s scientific skills and knowledge. Part of the day will also be spent in one of our classrooms so that the planning of developing outdoor learning, as well as extending the types of activities that we can do with children, can be illustrated.
