Overview

Governor Panels dealing with pupil exclusions are one of the instances in which Governors can be involved in the leadership and management of the school outside of formal governance meetings. The Clerk will play a key role in ensuring that the Governor Panel follows its statutory obligations when dealing with pupil exclusions.

This course is non-chargeable for those schools which have an annual contract with Octavo Governance.

Description

This development session will consider:
•The various stages of the exclusion process;
•The Clerk’s role in setting up the Governor Panel and communication with all parties concerned;
•The Clerk’s role in advising Governors of their responsibilities whilst sitting on the panel;
•How the Clerk can support the Chair of the exclusions panel to ensure a due process is followed at all times; and
•An effective follow up letter from the Panel.

For those Governors whose schools have purchased a training contract with Octavo Governance, attendance at these sessions will be at no additional charge; Governors whose school have not purchased an Octavo Governance training contract are warmly welcome to attend our virtual sessions for a fee of £105 plus VAT per delegate per session
