Overview

This course will provide governors with an overview of safeguarding issues in schools and a clear understanding of their statutory duties.

Description

Governors will explore some strategies to monitor the effectiveness of safeguarding procedures within their school, on behalf of the governing body
They will understand the role and requirements of the Independent Safeguarding Authority and Ofsted expectations.
They will understand their responsibilities with regard to the safeguarding of children

The material covered in this session will assist governors’ development in relation to Key Competency 2 (Accountability) and 5 (Compliance) within the Governor Competency Framework.
